Friday & Saturday Lucky15

Newmarket Lucky15

High class racing returns to Newmarket this weekend and we have put together four of our fancies for those looking to catch the early prices. Starting with tomorrow’s opener, we then move from the Fillies mile into Saturday’s main event, the Dewhurst Stakes. All in all a great weekend of racing and we have provided our reasoning for each selection below.

Friday 13:50 – Sound And Silence @ 2/1

This Godolphin Colt has had a fantastic season so far being successful four times since his debut in April. The most impressive of these came last time out, where he forged clear in a French Group3 event and he looks like the type to progress even further. William Buick is fresh back from a break to do the steering for Charlie Appleby, who has had an unbelievable spell with his juveniles throughout 2017.

Friday 14:25 – Dark Rose Angel @ 4/1

Frankie mounts the next selection, who we think is an overpriced Filly in a modest looking Group3 event. His latest second at Doncaster stacks up well with third that day Nyaleti going down by a head in the Rockfel and the winner Laurens, who she gave a real fight, currently sits at 5/1 for the Group1 fillies mile later in the day with some bookmakers.

Friday 15:35 – Happily @ 6/4 (NON RUNNER)

Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore have teamed up to take this race in the form of Minding and Rhododendron in the past two years which outlines how highly regarded this year’s favourite ‘Happily’ is. She is already a dual Group1 winner in both France and Ireland and will take some stopping on her trip to the UK. To add to this, the record-chasing trainer holds all three market leaders, and although it guarantees nothing, it can only be taken as a huge positive that Moore has chosen our selection out of the three.

Saturday 15:00 – Emaraaty @ 4/1

2,600,000gns purchase Emaraaty was all the rage in the betting when dominant at Newbury last time out and John Gosden, who hasn’t held back on his opinion of the colt has thrown him right in the deep end here. It’s not often Gosden fast tracks them like this, but he did something similar sending the legendary Oasis Dream to Newmarket back in 2002 and he clearly feels this horse has similar potential.

The favourite Expert Eye is obviously going to be a tough nut to track but at 4/7 we won’t be involved. Emaraaty has already shown ability and with plenty more to come, 4/1 could well turn out to be a steal on reflection.
