Day 2, Cheltenham Wednesday

Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival features a Grade one race, the Queen Mother Champion Chase. There are generally fewer entrants in this race, but the quality of the field is unsurmountable with the stronger quality horses usually taking the lucrative first spot.

Wednesday, day 2 of the Festivals racing itinerary consists of the following races:

1:30 Ballymore Novices Hurdle

In 2017 the winner came from the home team, with Willoughby Court taking the honours for Ben Pauling.

This is often a competitive race where you can expect to see some short prices this term too.

Tip: Samcro at 5 – 4; a comfortable victory in his last outings, we’re expecting big things from this talented horse stabled with Mullins.

2:10 RSA Chase

Always a difficult one to get right for the punters is the RSA Chase, with only 2 favourites winning this race since 2009.

2:50 Coral Cup

One of the most competitive races on the day, usually, and 2018 will most likely be no different. Often a favourite with the punters due to some of the prices that become available, in 2013 Medinas won at a cracking 33/1.

3:30 Queen Mother Champion Chase

Often described as one of the highlights of the Festival, the Queen Mother Champion Chase generates a high number of ante-post bets. A punters favourite, and no doubt up for the challenge in 2018, is Altior, who’s so far proving to be an unbeatable race horse.

4:10 Cross Country Chase

A recent race added to the Festival in 2005 that’s proving more and more popular with each passing year, amongst the punters.

4:50 Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle

Named after the jockey and trainer Frederick Thomas Winter CBE, who was crowned racing Champion Jockey 4 times and British jump racing Champion Trainer 8 times.

This race offers some great odds, which each way punters will love as the field is often one of the biggest on the day.

5:30 Champion Bumper

Dominated by the Irish trainers, over the years, The Champion Bumper is a fantastic race which often brings out the best future racers.
