Cheltenham Antepost 5fold

Just yesterday the news broke that SkyBet are going NRNB (non runner no bet) on ALL Cheltenham Festival races so we have decided to have a look forward to March and put together a little antepost bet for the greatest week of the year! We all know how tricky it can be backing antepost with horses entered in several races, but with the NRNB feature your stake is safe as any non-runners will become void.

Tuesday 13th March – Arkle Chase

Footpads jockey colours

Footpad 5/4

Willie Mullins’ highly rated Footpad kicks off our antepost 5fold and we believe he will be a tough nut to crack should he go for the Arkle. His jumping since moving to the bigger obstacles has been impeccable, winning by 11lengths on both occasions, with the latest performance coming in a respected Grade1 event in Ireland. Mullins has had a few setbacks with his stars ahead of Cheltenham but he will be confident of picking a big race with this talented chaser.

Tuesday 13th March – Champion Hurdle

Buveurs jockey colours

Buveur D’air 8/13

Straight over to the Champion Hurdle for the second-leg and we are liking the chances of Nicky Henderson’s Buveur D’air. The short price, for us, looks justified with him winning 10 of his previous 11 races including one at the festival last season. The main danger for the race was of course the magnificent Faugheen, but his latest performance leaves him with plenty to prove and he will be up against a young, fit, improving Buveur D’air.

Tuesday 13th March – National Hunt Chase

Presenting Percys jockeys colours

Presenting Percy 4/1

The 4mile National Hunt Chase looks perfect for Presenting Percy so we are hoping connections opt for this route over the RSA. He couldn’t have been more impressive at Fairyhouse last time out, winning by 11lengths being eased down towards the line. There seemed plenty of horse left over the slightly shorter trip so he should relish further, especially in soft conditions.

Wednesday 14th March – Ballymore Novices Hurdle

Samcros jockey colours

Samcro 5/4

Samcro has dealt with anything put in front of him thus far and he may drop shorter than 5/4 with another dominant display this weekend. The tussle with Next Destination never occurred, but we did see stable-mate Cracking Smart get close to the Mullins horse and Samcro could simply be a class above. His latest outing saw him demolish a respectable horse in Jetz at a canter and there should be plenty more to come.

Friday 15th March – Triumph Hurdle

Apple Shakira's jockey colours

Apple’s Shakira 3/1

JP McManus & Nicky Henderson again pair up for our 5th and final selection. Apple’s Shakira looks a horse packed with potential and we believe the Triumph Hurdle is hers to lose should it be the route they take. Her UK & stable debut came in a Grade2 event at Cheltenham’s November meeting, resulting in a 17length demolition job, forcing all the bookmakers to slash her festival odds. Ideally we’ll see her one more time before March but she’s still the one to beat if arriving fresh.
