Ascot Champions Day Ante-Post

This weekend sees the last major meeting of the 2015 flat racing season as we head to Ascot for the well anticipated Champions Day! So, to get you lot a little excited, we’ve done our ante-post tips a little earlier than usual to enable you guys to get the best prices on the best tips. Take a look below and don’t forget to tweet us in your opinion about our picks @Twenclosure. Good luck all!

12:45 – British Champions Long Distance Cup – In what looks to be a fairly average Group 2 race to to kick off Champions Day, we have taken a punt and gone with the John Gosden trained FLYING OFFICER. Despite the fact that she is yet to win a group 2 race, she responded really well to been ridden by Dettori in her last race at Newmarket to go onto win by two lengths to Angel Gabriel. You can get her best priced 7/1 at Betfair (join bet £10 and get £30) – BET HERE

1:20 – Qipco British Champion Sprint Stakes – This is one of the easiest picks of the day for us as we really can’t see past MUHAARAR. After two relatively poor runs in his first two Group 1 races, he caused a massive shock by destroying the well fancied Limato and Hootenanny respectively in the Commonwealth Cup at Ascot back in June. You can get him best priced 2/1 to win at Paddy Power (join, bet £10 get £30) – BET HERE

1:55 – Qipco British Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes – The British Champions Fillies and Mares sees the best female horses from 2015 come head to head for the final time with the two time Group 1 winner Covert Love leading the ante-post markets. But, we’ve gone for a bit of an outsider for who we think is great value at the price it is. That outsider is John Gosden’s JOURNEY who despite having never ran in a group race, has plenty of claims for this curtain raiser. Having got off the mark at her 5th attempt at Newbury in June, she has gone on to pick up two wins out of three in her last three class 1 races including a tremendous performance last time out to beat Desert Snow by eight lengths at Newmarket. You can get her best priced 10/1 at Paddy Power (join, bet £10 get £30) – BET HERE

2:30 – Queens Elizabeth II Stakes – This again is a pretty easy pick for us on Champions Day and with French Gelding SOLOW been in solid form, we fully expect him to continue how he has in his past eight races, ON TOP! Having only made his British debut at Ascot back in June where he beat the well travelled Esoterique, he has since gone onto win the Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood at the back end of July ahead of Arod and we find it hard to see past him once again. You can get SOLOW at best priced 5/6 at Betway (join, bet up to £30 and get £30 free) – BET HERE

3:05 Qipco Champion Stakes – The Champion Stakes sees the return of quite possibly one of the most underrated/overshadowed horses of 2015 as JACK HOBBS looks to make it a hat-rick of group wins in the last three and a half months. A colt which has only ever lost to the hands of 2015’s horse of the year in waiting Golden Horn, finishing second in both races, we completely expect him to get another win under his belt at Ascot and finish the year on a high. You can get JACK HOBBS best priced 5/4 at Ladbrokes (join and get £50 matched bet) – BET HERE

3:45 – Balmoral Handicap – The Balmoral Class 2 Handicap brings Champions Day at Ascot to an end on Saturday as we see the biggest field of the day go all out for glory. The two horses that stand out to us in this race are GABRIEL’S LAD and MERRY ME. Gabriel’s Lad came very close last time out at Ascot losing by a short head to Buckstay in a Class 2 whereas Merry Me finished strongly in a listed Class 1 race to finish a length behind Group 3 winner Nakuti so we believe both are in with a belting chance. You can get GABRIEL’S LAD best priced 14/1 at Ladbrokes HERE and get MERRY ME best priced 16/1 at William Hill HERE.

Good luck everyone!
