All-Weather Finals Day 2018

The All-Weather Championships have been on-going since last October with the Finals Day taking place this Friday at Lingfield Park Racecourse.

The large pot makes this raceday the richest all-weather event ever staged in Europe, as well as one of the richest racedays in the UK. To ensure you get the best value possible, we have our selections for each race up nice and early for you with reasoning for each provided below.

All-weather Championships Apprentice Handicap (Class 2)

Master Speaker E/W 8/1

To kickstart the day we have a very competitive handicap and we are siding with Irish Raider MASTER SPEAKER. This 8-y-o’s form went off the boil before switching yards, but the move has worked wonders with him hosing up on both outings at Dundalk. His latest victory has resulted in a 15lb hike in the weights but he remains well treated on old form if he is really anywhere near his previous best. The draw has been kind in stall 3 and he should be there or thereabouts given a clear run.

All-weather Marathon Championships Conditions Stakes (Class 2)

Funny Kid Win 4/1

Second up is the stayers race and we have found another raider with a fine chance in FUNNY KID. The French taking interest in the race pays homage to the purse bid and how far this meeting has come, and they certainly won’t be sending this ex-Fabre trained 5-y-o over for a run around. He was out-battled by market leader Watersmeet last time out but we believe he could reverse the form this time around haven been given a break to freshen up. That was clearly a prep run for this and he should be primed for a big run.

All-weather Fillies’ And Mares’ Championships Conditions Stakes (Class 2)

Zest Win 11/2

Next up we have the Fillies’ & Mares’. This looks a hot race but Elite Racing Club’s ZEST looks to have strong claims given his solid course form (112 at the track). He was forced wide last time out but still managed to pick off the pack, travelling past a few of today’s race-rivals in the process. His mark remains un-changed, and although the slight drop in trip doesn’t seem the obvious move it shouldn’t cause too much of a problem if the race is run to suit.

All-weather Sprint Championships Conditions Stakes (Class 2)

Intisaab 10/1 e/w

David O’Meara’s 7-y-o INTISAAB tends to finish like a train around Lingfield often leaving it a little too late, but this may just be his race. He’s drawn in stall 2 and if he pings out and gets a nice position in the race he could be very hard to contain at the finish. Martin Harley is certainly the right man for the job with the form he’s in at the minute and we believe 10/1 is a snip of a price for this model of consistency.

All-weather Championships Conditions Stakes (Class 2)

Albishr 33/1 e/w

We’ve picked out a healthy 33/1 shot in this one. ALBISHR hasn’t been in this yard long, leaving plenty of room for improvement and his latest run was an encouraging one. Tom Marquand pressed hard and tried to slip some of the field but he could sustain the pace, tiring over 7f. He drops back in trip here, wears first-time blinkers and has the services of Adam Kirby who his a master of an aggressive ride. If he can break sharply he has a fine chance of out-running his odds.

All-weather Mile Championships Conditions Stakes (Class 2)

Second Thought Win 6/4

SECOND THOUGHT is a classy all-weather horse and was victorious at this meeting 12months ago. He has some very smart form to his name in the context of his race, finishing second to Harry Angel at Haydock, and arrives on the back of a smart winner at Wolves on seasonal reappearance under Ryan Moore. James Doyle takes over this time out and he looks a warm order drawn in stall1.

All-weather Middle Distance Championships Conditions Stakes (Class 2)

Star Archer 10/1 e/w

This is a very tricky affair with the majority of the field being tightly matched having beat one another on several occasions. For this reason we are siding with the most un-exposed horse in the race in STAR ARCHER. He has returned from a very lengthy absence with two wins and a place on the all-weather and could have much more to offer. Course form is something which he doesn’t pose, and although this can be crucial around here we are willing to take a risk at a nice price.
